JSR’s First Crematorium for Pets Now Open
Jamshedpur: Good news for pet parents - The steel city has officially opened its first pet crematorium. Jamshedpur has officially opened its first pet crematorium in Jubilee Park to provide pet parents with a safe and dignified means of conducting their pet’s last rites.
Pets weighing 50 kg and under can be cremated at the brand-new facility, with cremation charges of INR 3,000. The facility is gas-wired, offering an eco-friendly alternative to burials. The facility can be reached by taking the road down Marine Drive next to the zoological park.
"It is a responsible solution for pet owners for the disposal of pet remains," said Ruchi Narendran, president, Jamshedpur Kennel Club. The facility was inaugurated on Saturday by Company VP (corporate services), Chanakya Chaudhary.
"Pet owners living in flats faced problems in burying the remains of their dead pets. Besides, our Jusco (TS UISL) garbage cleaning workers found dead pets at the garbage site several times," said Chaudhary. He also said that the new facility will help owners perform respectful last rites for their pets.
Ruchi Narendran, the president of the Jamshedpur Kennel Club, noted that there are roughly 4-5 dedicated pet crematoriums in the country, with Jamshedpur’s new crematorium being perhaps the first in Eastern India.
"The demand for a pet crematorium has been there for a long time," said Abhishek Kumar of Pets and Animals Welfare Society (PAWS).
